Driver - handler

The CAAP is a community organization whose mission is to provide food aid to people living in poverty in the territory of the MRC Deux-Montagnes and its surroundings. This mission is carried out by picking, sorting, processing and distributing food. We are also an environment of social integration.

SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION:

Reporting to the General Director, the driver will perform several tasks related to the picking and delivery of foodstuffs from merchants and Moisson Laurentides.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete the pre-departure inspection of the truck and electric pallet trucks;
  • Safely drive a 16-foot cube truck with a refrigeration unit and/or a refrigerated transit van, while respecting the highway code;
  • Supervise the volunteer or accompanying participant;
  • Verify the accuracy of orders and apply the various procedures to the letter;
  • Maintain the cold chain in the truck to preserve the freshness of the food;
  • Find out what is necessary before picking up food from our suppliers;
  • Pick up or distribute mail to the various counters;
  • Transport food from one location to another (MRC Deux-Montagnes and Blainville, according to the pre-established collection and distribution schedule and approved by management;
  • Complete various forms for pickup and delivery and complete the route sheet;
  • Wash and clean the truck and the truck box and see to the maintenance and notify the general manager of any repairs or special maintenance to be done;
  • Collaborate in activities related to the warehouse team;
  • Develop a procedure guide on your workstation and keep it up to date annually;
  • Assemble the pallets and distribute them as needed;
  • Handling: load and unload pallets;
  • Perform any other related tasks deemed appropriate by the director.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Have a high school diploma;
  • Valid class 5 driving license;
  • MAPAQ, CNESST first aid skills card;
  • Electric pallet truck operator card, an asset;
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience in a similar position;
  • Know the road network;
  • Good knowledge of French, spoken and written;
  • Provide a driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • 30-hour week position, Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
  • 4 weeks of vacation per year, from the first year (depending on the organization's closures);
  • Personal leave bank;
  • Salary according to salary scale between $18.00 and $23.00.
