About us

Our history

The CAAP comes from an observation made by volunteers who, during a food distribution, noticed the lower quality of certain foods offered to beneficiaries. They discover that no service exists in the region to ensure the distribution of consumable food.

Once the problem was presented to the Poverty Consultation Table, the Patriotes Food Aid Committee was then created, sponsored by the Racine-Lavoie Self-Help Center. On March 1, 1997, following the election of the first board of directors, the Patriotes Food Aid Committee became an independent organization. Beginning by serving 309 households in 1997, the CAAP now delivers food to 1,847 people, representing a distribution of 405,672 kilos of food in 14 organizations and food counters in the territory of the MRC of Deux-Montagnes and Mirabel-Sud.

Since November 2019, the CAAP has been relocated to 1906, chemin d'Oka in Deux-Montagnes, which allows the team to better meet the growing demand for food aid in addition to undertaking new projects.

Our team

CAAP, our mission

The Patriotes Food Aid Committee (CAAP)'s mission is to provide food aid to people experiencing poverty in the MRC of Deux-Montagnes region through the collection, processing and distribution of food. We are also an environment of social integration.

In addition to fighting hunger, the organization promotes professional reintegration and social integration. Its operation is, in large part, ensured by people with an intellectual disability, mental health problems, a physical disability, a pervasive developmental disorder or who want to re-enter the job market.

The CAAP serves 14 organizations and food aid counters in the MRC of Deux-Montagnes and Mirabel Sud, on the North Shore. Approximately 1,847 people benefit from the organization's services each week.
